Jack was a one-of-a kind super-star in many ways in those early years when I knew him well. He was always fun to be with and, to this day, I can still remember the way he deliveried his best stories and jokes. Jack was also a high IQ, really smart, quick-thinking guy, a side he didn't always display. My regret now is not seeing him again before his passing. Jack, thanks for the good times and the great memories. Bill Congdon.

Jack lived up the street from me growing up and ... despite his being 7 years older ... took the time to take a 10-year-old under his wing and help teach me basketball on the makeshift court my father had erected in our cul-de-sac. That was a very generous thing to do! I used to attend his games at BCC -- which helped inspire me to pursue the sport. One humorous memory I have is of Jack showing me the very first scholarship letter he'd received ... from Stout State in Menomonie, Wisconsin! It proudly proclaimed: "We look forward to having a great basketball team, when you get here!"

We had quite a chuckle about that. He was a great guy and terrific athlete ... and will be missed.
