Died August 19, 2007 in a Williamsburg hospital. Mr. Garverick was born March 30, 1930 in Crestline, OH and retired from Dunbar Senior High School as an English instructor. He is survived by his partner of 40 years, Michael R. Heintz of Alexandria, VA; and two sons, John Martin Garverick and Douglas Eugene Garverick.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, August 30, 2007 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 228 S. Pitt Street, Alexandria, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dunbar Senior High School Student Scholarship Fund, 1301 New Jersey Ave., N.W., Washington, DC 20001. Cremation Society of Virginia, Newport News, is assisting the family.
