John Howard Obituary
John Howard was born in Newport News, VA to John Walker Howard Sr. and Irene Davidson Howard on November 14, 1927. He attended Hampden-Sydney College. He married Louise "Peepsie" Overton Brooks on July 15, 1950, in Farmville, Va.
Staying with one employer, he worked as a banker in Alexandria for First & Citizens National Bank, United Virginia Bank, Crestar, and SunTrust (now Truist) for over 40 years. He served in the Merchant Marines from 1944 to 1946.
He was involved in numerous community and business organizations. Through his love of golf, he served as president of Belle Haven Country Club.
John Howard is preceded in death by "Peepsie" Howard spouse of 74 years; son John Walker Howard, III; and granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth Howard.
John Howard is survived by his son William Brooks Howard (Julie), and grandchildren William Brooks Howard, Jr. (Allie) and Anne Walker Howard.
Memorials may be given to The John Walker Howard Scholarship at Hampden-Sydney College (ATTN: John Walker Howard Scholarship, 172 Via Sacra Box 637 Hampden-Sydney, VA 23943).

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday April 4 at Everly Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 Braddock Road, Alexandria, VA.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday April 5, 2025, at Trinity United Methodist Church at 2911 Cameron Mills Road, Alexandria, VA with Pastor Grace Han of Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating.
