JOHN KELLY "JACK"
On Monday, February 17, 2014, JOHN "JACK" KELLY of Montgomery Village, MD. Beloved husband of 38 years to Sandra L. Kelly; dear brother of Dr. Scott Kelly and his wife Jane, Birmingham, AL and Jamarie "Jamie" Everett and her husband Don, N. Potomac, MD. His lifelong adoptive "Mother" Asby "Geraldine" Stewart and many loving nieces and nephews also survive him. Memorial Service will be held at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 E. Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, MD 20877 on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 11 a.m. where friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Children's Inn at N.I.H., 7 West Drive, Bethesda, MD 20814. Please sign the guestbook atwww.devolfuneralhome.com

I wish to share my memories over the years that I have known Jack with his family.
I met Jack in the late 80's at the Elks while building the famous Dungeon Room. Jack was with his friend Dennis Pemberton and sharing his plans to sponsor pool tournaments. He was a very good pool shark much to my surprise.
Jack and I had many conversations about what the Elks is all about-some ending in heated disagreement but always with a hand shake.
Jack enjoyed life and always had a way to twist the topic of the day to his favor. He really enjoyed playing cards with the old gray beards at the club. He was well versed in the rules and never let the players forget that rules are rules. I wish I had recorded a playing session(4 hours) to show Jack at his best analyzing, finessing and yes winning the hand.
It has been areal pleasure to have had Jack as an Elk friend over the years.
