John Noble Obituary

Colonel (Ret.)
John was born June 27, 1937 in Rochelle, Georgia to Louvenia Rogers Noble and John M. Noble. He loved Rochelle and treasured his relationships with friends and family from the area. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Marjorie Lloyd and Bob Noble. He is survived by his wife Carole Beam Noble and his children Joshua Noble, Carrie Byrum (Derek), Rachel Lipari (Mike), William Noble (Karlynn), and Ellen "Nelle" Noble (John Nielson), and 12 grandchildren.
In 1959, John graduated from The Citadel in South Carolina. His time there was formative, teaching him lessons about duty, honor, and character. After college, John returned to Rochelle and served on the City Council, then later as mayor. He resigned in 1965 for active duty in the US Army and began a military career lasting over 28 years. John served in the Infantry from Vietnam through the Gulf War, and was widely regarded as an inspirational leader characterized by integrity and devotion to his men. John's next career was working for ITT as a senior executive for the Middle East Region before retiring to Athens, Georgia.
John lived all over the world and loved experiencing new places, delighting in their history and cuisine. His life was defined by unwavering commitment to nation and family. John had many notable accomplishments though none made him prouder than his over 54-year marriage to Carole and their family. He was deeply loved by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John's name to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund by visiting https://www.vvmf.org.
