JOHN NICHOLAS VASSOS
On Monday, January 18, 2021. The beloved husband of Joan Vassos; father of Nicholas, Luke and Erica Vassos, and Allison (Noah) Joseph; son of Elaine Vassos, brother of Katina Vassos and grandfather of Boomer John Joseph. Friends are invited to celebrate John's life at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Due to COVID restrictions, we ask that you quickly pay your respects to allow others to enter the facility. A private funeral service will be held on Friday, January 22 at Ss. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Annapolis, MD with interment at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Cemetery. To the whole Vassos family, Joan, your children, Thea Elaine and Katina. We want to pass on our sincere condolences. We were so sorry to hear about John. You may not know this, but my daughter Katrina and I have some very fond memories of John. Katrina is physically disabled and uses a wheelchair. When she started Sunday school at St Sophia they still had the little house next door for classes. John was the main volunteer to help carry Katrina in and out along with her wheelchair. I want to tell you how very sweet and gentle he was with her. She’s very tiny and has fragile bones that break easily. John wasn’t nervous to handle her. He was so sweet and funny and had such warmth. Katrina was just 6 and felt so comfortable with him. He was definitely a product of his loving parents. We have never forgotten his kindness. May God Bless you you all.

I have known Johnny since he was a little boy to anyone that knew him they would remark about the deep voice of the delightful little boy
He was always a happy little boy
He had wonderful parents and sister
Johnny and I lost touch but I will not forget him
To his mother Elaine and sister Katina I can only say that I will always cherish the time I spent at the Vassos house as a boy

John was an amazing man, his legacy will live on forever. The first time I met him I knew he was special, he will be deeply missed. Sending healing prayers and comforting hugs. John was a very good man and he was raised right by two wonderful parents. He knew how to be a man--to have a family, to provide for them, and to protect them and build his business. He knew how to serve his church , his traditions, and his community. He was a patriot and a leader.
