Mr Walter was always there for us as the kids all grew up together. He would always know what to do and how to do it.My father Thomad Atkins and I his son,Ken pulled the motor out of old car on the side of his garage, with his help.He always had the tool and was always building something. My heart go out to the family and to the boys.My Father and Mon are gone now,but they would have been sad to hear the passing of John. From Ken Atkins 2904 Swanee Lane .

I will never forget Mr. Walter and the Walters family. I spent many a day attempting to be a tomboy playing with Jimmy, Tommy and Bobby so long ago. Mr. Walter was always kind and served as the go-to guy on Swanee Lane. I know my parents looked to him for advice often and sometimes after a phone call he would show up at the front door to help, wrench in hand. I know the family is mourning the loss of this lovely gentleman, and I hope you will find solace in the many happy memories you must have. I wish you the best as you heal from your loss and I will be thinking of you tomorrow as you bid your Dad farewell.

John was one of the kindest, most interesting and hardest working people I have had the pleasure to know. He will be greatly missed.

To the Walter Family,

I am sorry for your loss. You must be going through such a critical time. Keep im mind what Revelation 21:4 quotes, "death will be no more." Please accept my deepest sympathies.

He was a good man with boundless energy. I worked for him when he was my group chief and, on occasion, substituted for his secretary when she was on leave. He always treated me with kindness and respect.

Note: Once while substituting for about a week, I had trouble remembering to switch from my own 'division' telephone office greeting to the 'group' greeting. During that week, my husband told me I should be getting overtime for the temporary assignment. "Why?", I asked. "Because you kept me up all night answering the phone "Office of the Chief, ISG"."

The next day when I told John that story, he roared with laughter.
