I'm so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. His music rang out for working people and his voice provided the backdrop for many struggles during the 20th century. It was my pleasure to have met him early in my career. Thank you, Joe.

Dear Millie,
Joe was a great teacher of the principles of individual dignity and universal prosperity. How many times did we crowd into Olga's apartment on Lincoln's Birthday and recite the Gettysburg Address followed by Joe leading a chorus of the Battle Hymn of the Republic? He made us all feel proud to be working to make our nation and the world an even greater place to live. His spirit lives on in each and every life he touched or, as he would have sung, "I never died, said he."
My family's prayers are with you.
Solidarity forever.

To Millie and family with love -
Joe will always be remembered with love and with smiles, even though it hurts so much not to have him near. So many people miss him, but his family most of all, and it is with you that I send my prayers.
With love, from your friend in Wisconsin.
