Joseph Eugene Jenifer
February 9, 1935 ~ November 22, 2023
Born in Washington, DC on February 9, 1935. He grew up and lived in Washington, DC for over 40 years. He was educated in the D.C. Public School system. He was a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute and the Executive Development Program of the Printing Industries of America. Joseph was united in marriage to Marie Jenifer (nee Diggs) in Washington, DC. Through this union, they had three children. Joseph began his career at the Government Printing Office (GPO) in 1954. He was chosen to serve as Deputy Public Printer, one of GPO's three executive level positions. He ascended to the position of Acting Public Printer; a position held until the culmination of an illustrious 35 year career until he retired in 1990. Joseph peacefully departed this well-lived life surrounded by his loving family. He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife Marie; son Joseph Byron Jenifer; daughters Linda Jenifer and Carolyn Jenifer Tidwell (Dr. Schavez Tidwell); six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and brother Dr. Franklyn G. Jenifer. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2020 St. Joseph Drive, Upper Marlboro, MD 20774 from 10 a.m. until funeral mass at 11 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD. Care entrusted to SNOWDEN FUNERAL HOME.
