JOSEPH TERESHINSKI Obituary

JOSEPH PETER TERESHINSKI
Mr. Joseph Peter Tereshinski, age 89, died Sunday, June 9, 2013. Joe was the son of the late Walter and Sophia Tereshinski of Glen Lyon, PA. After serving as the Captain of the All Anthracite Squad High School football team at Newport High School, the three-sport high school athlete attended the University of GA graduating with a degree in Business Administration. Though his football career was interrupted by service in Germany during World War II, he played in the Orange, Rose, Oil and Sugar Bowls and Chicago All Star Game. He was first married to his college sweetheart Martha Walraven who died in 1956. Joe played and coached with the Washington Redskins from 1947 - 1960 and spent his career with several Washington area car dealerships. Joe was happily married for over 55 years to the late Gertrude Tereshinski and is survived by three children: Ada Tereshinski of Austin, TX, Joe Tereshinski of Athens, GA and Walter Tereshinski of Evans, GA; sister Pauline Kashefski of Sheatown, Newport Township, PA; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Devoted to his family, the University of GA, St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church, and his community, Joe had a big heart and offered his loyal friendship to many people through the years. A private family memorial will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Mary's Center for Alzheimer's and Dementia Care, 1660 Jennings Mill Rd., Bogart, GA 30622. Lord & Stephens, West is in charge of arrangements. www.lordandstephens.com

The Mr Joe & Mrs Trudy were very tight with my parents & our family. My brothers & I have many fond memories of going to Redskin's games with Mr Joe and seeing him on the field during alumni gatherings. Our parents bought a number of sweet Pontiacs from Mr Joe. And their kindnesses to our family over the years will always be cherished. Sincerest condolences from the Stevenson family.
