KAYE PELOVITZ (Age 67)  (nee Lawrence)  
On January 19, 2018, Kaye Pelovitz passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Sheldon Pelovitz; daughters, Kelly Shuford (Mark) and Leah Poe (CJ); grandchildren, Grace Shuford, Stella Shuford, Dominic Poe and Elijah Poe; brother, Jay Lawrence (Elaine); sister, Janet Hunter; sister-in-law, Barbara Cohen (Beryle); brother-in-law, Howard Pelovitz. Nephews and nieces, Aprille Hunter, Michelle Hunter, Avie Rock (Elana), Moshe Rock (Lisa), Mindy Benyowitz (Yoel), Sarah Baharan(Ben Tzion), Erik Cohen (Marcia), Stefanie Stevenson Cohen and Neil Cohen (Suzanne); many great- and great-great nephews and nieces.Kaye was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Marcheta (Markie) Lawrence, sister-in-law, Doris Rock and nephew, Paul Cohen. Kaye was born in Melrose Park, Illinois. She grew up in Howard County Maryland, a member of the first graduation class of Atholton High School. She received a BS in Elementary education from the University of Maryland. For 17 years she owned a retail quilting business (Seminole Sampler) in Catonsville, MD. Kaye loved music and sang with many choral groups during her teenage years and as an adult she sang with the Columbia Pro Cantare. She was an avid quilter and made many quilts for family members and friends and donated quilts for charity.Kaye adored her family, especially her four grandchildren, being with her friends, quilting, singing and gardening. She was active in maintaining a sustainable environment. She loved her cats and anything purple.A Memorial Service will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbia, Owen Brown Interfaith Center at 7246 Cradlerock Way, Columbia, MD 21045 on Saturday, February 10 at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kaye's memory to the UUCC Endowment Fund, Gilchrist Hospice (GILCHRISTCARES.ORG), 11311 McCormick Rd., Suite 350, Hunt Valley, MD 21031 or The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF.ORG)
