Kent Carter Obituary
KENT DEWAYNE CARTER (Age 40)
Of Northern Virginia, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022, in Turks and Caicos. Kent was born in Oak Ridge, TN to the late Clarence and Mary Lou Carter. Kent joined the United States Army in 2000 and served as a MP.serving at the Pentagon immediately after 9/11. He also served two combat tours in Afghanistan. Carter began his undergraduate studies at Methodist University, Fayetteville, NC where he earned an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice. After an injury ended his active duty career, he earned a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Phoenix. He served as a Special Investigator for the Office of Special Investigations as well as for the Department of Commerce. Kent later became a realtor with Keller Williams Metro Center in Arlington, VA. Prior to his transition, he was a leader in the NAACP as 1st Vice President and Chairman of the Criminal Justice Committee. Survived by daughter, Kennedi Carter; brother, Barry Cantrell; and sister, Trista Carter; a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Mount Olive Baptist Church, Arlington, VA. Kent will lie in state on Saturday, October 22, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church. Kent was more than a cousin when I was young. I miss the football games we played at mamaws. I'll always remember that laugh he had when he'd pull a little prank or when he'd turn Christopher's speakers up real loud. We lost a great great man with Kent's passing but heaven gained a great guardian angel.
