On Sunday, April 11, 2004, devoted daughter of Linda Lesene and William Slaughter. Devoted mother of Keyon J. Slaughter; sister of Santae A. Tribble, Jr.; granddaughter of Odessa Wells. Also survived by other relatives and friends. The late Miss Slaughter will lie in state at New Samaritan Baptist Church, 1100 Florida Ave., NE, Saturday, April 17 from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m., Bishop Michael Kelsey officiating. Interment Harmony Memorial Park. Services by STEWART.

Another year has rolled around and when the 13th of May comes I always think of you, it's like a KEYONNA HOLIDAY. I remember when you were born and being eager to know that you my little cuzin was coming into the world. Your mom was living with my mom when you were born. You are and always have been like the little sista I never had. Good morning Angel,

Who am I kidding, Angel, yeah right, LOL....naw you were YOU, but you're still an Angel to me. I just wanted to say hi, and let you know that you're thought about, but I'm sure you already know that. GIRL can you believe that your baby boy is in middle school, YES too much for me. I know you see how big he's becoming, and such a gentleman. Man I miss you so much Keyonnie, you know we had a special bond that no one or nothing could come between, I guess it's that "TAURUS" in us!! Girl although it's been a few years, it's still hard to believe that you're gone, from the physical that is, because you'll forever be in many people hearts.

OH, I sure you know, but girl your Goddaughter is driving, can you believe that? She got her official license on Saturday, and been on the go every since, LOL. Remember when we first started driving, OMG!! NO, how about that time I ran into that lady's front porch, and you walked around that corner and just couldn't stop laughing, you know I didn't find that amusing at all, but you did, LOL, of course now looking back on it, it was pretty amusing.......we had so much fun together, man what I wouldn't give for one of those 2am phone calls, in which I started out yelling and screaming, and ended up laughing up a storm.........I miss you Girl, and I love you even more. Keyonna is definitly missed!!!! The outpouring shows of affection through the e-mails are wonderful!! As time passes and it does pass. It shows that she is missed but, not forgotten. God let Keyonna bring sunshine, laughter,and fun into our lives. If anyone knew how to live... it was her. In my mind I invision her and beautiful smile, that could make you laugh even when you did not want to, she was a special kind of person . I just wanted to say hello to you since I haven't in quite a while. I had your son with me this weekend, girl is something else, but he's still my baby (you know Keyia love the kids). He's always trying to act to rough and tough, and all that stuff (smile), but he's just as sweet as he can be.

Girl I miss you so much. I still can't believe that you're gone. I think of you just about everyday. Even if it's just something that we did together. Girl I've been thinking about your last birthday (this year), and as you know I had a night to remember. I thought about that night yesterday, and just couldn't stop laughing. I know I have not been here to tell you what's up in a while. But I want you to know that I still miss you like crazy. I really do . I went out this weekend and I partied with one of your all time favorites RE. Of course you were on my mine the whole night. Remember, you was the first one who took me to see them at the Black Hole. So you should honestly know how I feel when I go to see them. Girl these days are moving so fast. It still seem like it was yesterday when I last saw you. Girl I miss you so much that it hurts, and not to mention each time I see your son.........GURLLLL, he looks like you, and can be just as comical as you. I just wanted to let you know that you are missed so much out here in the physical. Girl I think about you ALL the time. I had your son at my house this past weekend. Girl he is getting so big, and is such a gentleman (is he really yours, smile). You really have a wonderful child, and I'm so grateful that he's apart of me and my daughter's life.

Hi Baby,

I have been thinking about you. I can't forget the way that you use to sing (Our love) when you were only two years old. Everytime that I hear that song I always laugh and think about you. You have been a part of my life every since you were two now that's a long time. I haven't forgotten anything good and bad times, but no matter what the circumstances was if you called me I came running. You know that a couple of my friends end up naming the daughters after you just because they knew how much you meant to me. Everybody would say that Keyonna was something else, but I would tell the that is my Keyonna and no body better not mess with my baby Keyonna. I can't forget your birthday, because Jeffrey's (son) birthdy is the same day. So it's a happy occasion for me. I know that it was your 30th birthday this year and I can alway remember how old you are, because I am ten years older than you. So it's the big 40 for me. Keyonna you are so missed and I have always loved you since the first time you ran outside naked at two and I covered you up and took you back into the house, and I will always love you. You are a child of God and I know that you in Heaven looking down on all of us. I make sure that I call your mother ever once in a while to tell her that I love her and to tell her what is going in my life. She has been talking, but that's ok to. I know that she misses you a lot. You were her only child for about ten years until your brother came. I thank God for you having a brother so that your mother could have one child here. I saw Santae at the Pentagon working here were I'm working at. I must have hugged him a couple of times. It brought back so many memories. So I'm going to have to visit with your family so that I can tell your son about some of the good times that we use to have and to show him so pictures of Keyonna when she was little. I have to find that picture when you were wearing a leather jacket and cowboy books. We all thought that was the coolest thing back in the days. Your mother and aunt Joe kept you looking so pretty. By the way Kevin has moved out into his own apartment, Jeffrey finished his first year in college and Jaden turn five and will be going to the Kindergarten this year and he is just as busy as Jeffrey was. I thank God that your family introduce you to church a long time ago. I know one thing about you if you got into any trouble you knew how to call on God. And not just for trouble time, but all the time. I have always prayed for you and I will continue to pray for your and friends, because not everyone knows about the power of God. And I can't thank God enough for your mother getting married, because I seen for myself that he loves your mother and he has been there for her. Your mother is one of the strongest black woman that I know and I have seen and heard her battles. She will get through this time on her own time and not no body else time.

So you leaving behind your son is a part of you that your mother and brother and hold onto now that's a blessing.
