Kittye Sneed Wright (Age 87)  
Kittye Sneed Wright passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at her home in Columbia, MD. A devoted mother, grandmother, and aunt. Kittye is survived by her son, Philip; her daughter, Kathleen Simms (Wayne); her grandchildren, Kelly Gray, Amanda Simms and Matthew Simms; and her nephew, Jeffrey Dixon. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and other family members. Born and raised in Durham, NC, Kittye graduated from North Carolina Central University and relocated to the Washington DC area to pursue her lifelong passion for music. She earned a master's degree in music from Catholic University and worked for the Library of Congress, DC Public Schools, and Howard County Public Schools. Over the years, Kittye served as choir director at Albright United Methodist and Mount Pisgah AME Churches. She also performed with the Baltimore Choral Arts Society and the Heritage Signature Chorale. Kittye served her community on the Oakland Mills Village Board and with Delta Sigma Theta sorority. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 28, at 11 a.m., at Wilde Lake Interfaith Center in Columbia, MD, with interment of her ashes at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to: North Carolina Central University.
