KYESON ARTHUR CUMMINGS

Kyeson Arthur Cummings, of Annandale VA and known to all as Casey, died peacefully May 12, 2023. Born September 21, 1948 in Munich Germany to his parents Lorraine and Melvin Cummings, Casey grew up in Arlington VA, played Little League baseball and football, and graduated from Yorktown High School in 1966. Following his 1970 graduation from the University of Virginia where he joined Sigma Chi Fraternity, Casey was commissioned in the US Navy and served aboard the USS Denebola. In 1972 he married Linda, his wife of 50 years. The newlyweds moved West where Casey earned an MA in Latin American Studies at the University of New Mexico and an MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management in Phoenix. Casey joined the operational audit staff of Esso Inter-America, and the couple toured the Caribbean and 8 Latin American countries over three years. They returned to Northern VA in 1980, and Casey moved into private equity real estate, ultimately working for Brookwood Securities for 28 years. Casey will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather; in addition to Linda, he is survived by son Darren (Gina) and infant grandson Kai, and son Mark (Vanessa) and toddler grandson Santiago. He is survived by his older brother Kraig (Fran) and his children, Larry (Tammy) and Lisa and their families. Casey cultivated his friendships over the years, and was known for his ready smile, loyalty, and ability to make you feel you were the only one in the room. A funeral service will be held at St Alban's Episcopal Church, 6800 Columbia Pike, Annandale VA on June 16 at 11 a.m. Donations may be made to The Parkinson's Foundation of the National Capital Area, 3570 Laytonsville Rd #490, Olney MD 20830, Attn: Jan Hatherell.
