Sister Jones and the entire Jones family. I was deeply saddened to hear about the loss of a truly great man, husband, father, grandfather and friend. I will always have fond memories of Pastor Jones from being baptized, being crowned Mr. Springfield and having him officiate my wedding.

Even after moving away from the Washington, DC area for over 25 years, I always found time to come back to Springfield to worship and see familiar faces. One sermon I will always remember, is the "Baseball Game of Life" which was, and still is so uplifting and inspiring.

Even though his body is no longer with us, his spirit will live forever in our hearts and minds.

On behalf of my family (Wife - Dr. Donna M. Powell-Goings and Mother Irma B. Goings), we pray for strength during this difficult time and know that we all will meet him again.

Sister Jones and the Jones Family,
The human side of us were so sorry to hear of the Homegoing of Pastor Jones, but rest peacefully in the knowledge that Pastor Jones is where he wanted most to be and we know God welcomed him home. Phyical death is never easy for those left behind, but spiritually "Pastor" is still with you and in the end, you will see him again. We were sorry we could not speak with you personally on Friday or Saturday, but our prayers have been with constantly.

A gift's been given in your loved one's name
Through which some bit of good may come of sorrow.
Life is something all of us must borrow,
Returning it, in time, to whence it came.
Pleased be assured that it will be well used,
As every gift that sings of love and light
Will render things less wrong, though never right;
For gifts of morning ought not be refused.

To the Family of Rev. LB Jones and to the Church Family,

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy in the loss of Rev. Jones. My mother and I used to listen to Rev. Jones on WYCB 1340 station on Sunday nights at 9pm. We used to love to hear him preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. I do believe that he is one of the precious saints that has gone on to receive his reward. He will be greatly missed. May God comfort the family and church is my prayer.

To Sis. Doleen Jones and the Jones family,
May God comfort you and keep you at this time and in the days to come.

Pastor Jones has and always will be a man of greatness and integrity. He has meant a great deal to both my family and me. I was baptised by Pastor Jones when I was 17 years old. He conducted our marriage ceremony, dedicated our children to Christ, taught me how to preach, and set a flawless example for us all to follow. We love him and will always cherish the memories that we have of him.

May God bless you all, our prayers remain with you.

To Pastor LB Jones, II, the Jones Family, and the Springfield Baptist Church: Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of Pastor LB Jones Sr. In my heart I just know that his kindness, anointing, and stedfastness in the Faith will always be remembered. I grew up listening to Springfield's radio broadcast and Pastor Jones "ON the air". In years gone by, I've had to pleasure of attending and enjoying many wonderful services at SBC as far back as the late 1970's I believe. It is my prayer that the comfort of the Lord Jesus fill your heart and surround you, now and ever...until you meet Pastor Jones "IN the air". To Sister Jones, and family, may God continue to bless, and watch over you and your family. The old say is: "GOD TAKE THE BEST UNDER HIS WING" INDEED, PASTOR JONES IS THE BEST! My family history with Springfield dates back when I was a little girl, and my mother, grandmother, and aunt, which all have been called home to be with the Lord have visited, and became members at Springfield back in the mid 70's. So, I will end by saying "HOLD ONTO GOD UNCHANGING HANDS" GOD BLESS!

Mother Jones and the entire Jones Family: Our sincere prayers and sympathy are with you. I recall a sermon that Pastor Jones Sr. preached at the Pilgrim Baptist church using a bowl, water and his son Jerome assisting him...and he told us that we would not have enough room for all the blessings GOD would have for us..because they keep over-flowing, and over-flowing and over-flowing....May the Jones family be enriched w/the awesome blessings that GOD has for you from the life of Rev. Dr. L.B. Jones.

First, I give honor to God, who is and always will be the chief cornerstone and ruler of my life, second, I give thanks to Rev. Louis B. Jones for inspiring me when I could not help myself. I had the wonderful occasion to meet Rev.L.B. Jones as a young woman. Rev. Jones invited me to accept the Lord and to join and make Springfield Baptist Church my home. I will never forget the many times I had to call on him in my times of despair. He was always there for everyone. I thank God because He allowed Pastor Jones to influence my life in a positive way. God blessed him with the ability to see the true need of his congregation. My children were also members of Springfield. I left Springfield, but, L.B. Jones will always be my pastor. To the family, I know that you know what a wonderful man God blessed us with in the person of Rev. Jones. He can never be replaced and I can truly say that his work was done well. Gone, but not forgotten Pastor, your work here is complete, and it is a pleasure to be a product of that work. We should all feel blessed to carry on his legacy. You are forever in my heart. Thank you.

This Man of God first impacted my life as a little boy in the 1970's when our church Meridian Hill Bpt came for 3:30pm service in the old church.... Dr. Jones would sing "Amazing Grace" like none other.. & destroy the house.. nurses ran to folk with smelling salts.. wigs flying over the pews.. people loosing dentures... eyeglasses under the pews.. folk running.. Holy Ghost Power hitting the temple... those days are now long gone.. He was best friends with my Pastor/Spiritl Father - The Late Rev. Dr. Roosevelt McIntrye (Meridian Hill) & the Rev. Dr. Hamilton (Greater New Hope) this closes the chapter of the Old seasoned preachers in the city.. to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord - In Jesus, I am - the Son of Pastor Shirley Caesar Williams & the Spiritual Son of the Rev. Dr. Roosevelt & Mary Lee McIntrye (MHBC) - Be Blessed - When we All Get to Heaven - What a time!!!!

February 28, 2008

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
