LARRY SLAGLE Obituary

LARRY B. SLAGLE
Larry B Slagle of Washington, DC, passed away on January 10, 2022, at the Washington Hospital Center after three recent hospitalizations. A 1995 heart transplant recipient, Larry turned 87 on December 17, 2021. He retired in 1994 as Director of Personnel at the US Department of Agriculture. Larry loved dachshunds (Sam, Tyler and Ben); bike marathons (100 miles a day for fitness and to benefit causes that he supported); travels around the globe with his 50-year partner, David M. Maxfield; his nephew and two nieces; the Nationals baseball team, and the reconciling Foundry Methodist Church in Washington, DC. A Celebration of Life service will be held in the spring at the Church.

I was a year behind Larry at Ramsay High School in Mount Pleasant, PA. Larry and I drove Ice Cream Trucks, door to door every summer, he would outsell all of the drivers no matter how hard we tried. After forty years I located Larry and our biking group met up with him on one of our weekend biking trips to DC. I've been trying to reach Larry for months, the last thing that I wanted to do was check the obituary but here I am. "REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND"
