LAURA BLADES Obituary

LAURA MARGARET BLADES
Beloved wife, mother, and friend, her body having succumbed to a years-long battle against lung cancer, peacefully passed from this life to the more glorious next on January 11, 2017, at her home in Potomac, Maryland. Having been born into this life of goodly parents Edward Roginski and Elizabeth Mihalic, who predeceased her, she was a force of love and light, stubborn in righteousness, willing to be a friend to all. She was funny and she was cute and could dance. She handled presidential personnel in the Reagan/Bush White House and then turned her exemplary skills and talents to public affairs and communications at the Office of Special Counsel, Marriott Corporation, and the American Great Lakes Ports Association and the St. Lawrence Seaway Partnership. She loved babies and puppies, including old dogs. More than these, she loved and dedicated herself to her God and her husband, son and daughter-in-law, and friends. She is survived in this life by her husband, Reginald Thomas Blades, Jr., her son and daughter-in-law, Ian Daniel Blades and McKenzie Rose Mattson Blades, her sisters and their husbands, Celeste and Tom Ballew, and Teresa and David Good, a niece, Melissa Ballew, and countless loving family and friends.Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday evening, January 15, from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, January 16, and a memorial service will be held on Monday, January 16 at 1 p.m. at the Potomac Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 11700 Falls Road, Potomac, Maryland. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers or other remembrances, please donate to the cancer-fighting organization of your choice.
