Lee Margaret Ritger Pushkin

Lee Margaret Ritger Pushkin passed away peacefully at home in Bethesda MD on September 23, 2022, of Parkinson's disease, with her loving husband by her side. Lee was born on December 7, 1948, to Donald L.E. Ritger and Susan Apthorp Bulfinch Ritger in Washington, DC. She grew up in suburban Maryland and graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, 1966. She received a B.A. degree, 1970, and M.A.T., 1972, from Smith College, Northampton, MA. After a year teaching school in New Hampshire, Lee backpacked through Europe, then worked at Raleigh's clothing store, where she met her first husband. Lee then worked at the National Cancer Institute and NIH/OMB, attaining the position of Director of the Office of Financial Management. After retirement, Lee consulted for NIH on a grants-analysis software project, worked part-time at Behnke's garden center, volunteered as a Friend of the Davis Library, and served on the Board of Directors for Adventure Theater (ATMTC)

Lee married Robert Pushkin in 1975. They had two children, Susan Rebecca and Daniel Aaron, and later divorced. Lee and Douglas Frazier married in 1986. Her interests and loves included gardening, travel, cooking, art & theater, literature, and the history and ecology of Cape Cod, as well as happy times with family and friends.

Lee was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her husband Douglas Frazier, daughter Susan Blouse (Harry) and granddaughter Lily Grace, son Daniel Pushkin (Merve Stoltzman), step-daughters Jessica Frazier and Shevaun Frazier (Brian Nisbet); siblings Thomas Ritger (Amy Volchok), Wendy Ritger (Henry Elliott), and Edward Ritger (Alyson), and her nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National The Parkinson's Foundation or the Smith College Botanical Gardens. A private memorial gathering will be held by the family.
