Lee Frank Zemil

On Friday, September 2, 2022, Lee Frank Zemil, of Sarasota, Florida passed away. Beloved husband of the late Barbara Zemil; devoted father of Mark Zemil, Stewart (Carla) Zemil and Sharon (James) Whitt; loving brother of Ruth Tuchman and the late Terry Campagna and the late Eileen Rothenberg; brother-in-law of Bert Rothenberg; cherished Zeyda of Dina (Ashby), Nicholas (Kelly), Mitchell, Brian, Michelle, Victoria and Haley; great-grandfather of Eden, Lane, Ben and Charlie.



Lee grew up in Baltimore, MD then moved to Washington, DC where he met his wife Barbara who he married in 1956 for 51 years. They settled in Silver Spring, MD and later in life had a second home in Sarasota, FL. Lee had an amazing sense of humor and was loved by anyone whose life he touched. Lee served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War in Platoon 223.



Graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2022, 11 a.m. at Mt Lebanon Cemetery, Adelphi, MD. Family will be receiving immediately following burial at the home of Sharon and Jamie Whitt with Minyan at 7 p.m. Shiva will resume on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org)
