LEON GAMBLE Obituary
LEON C. GAMBLE (Age 86) Retired CIA Officer
Passed away peacefully on October 23, 2015 at his home in Herndon, VA at the age of 86. He is survived by his wife, Betty Gamble; a son, Melvin Gamble; a daughter, Santanisha Chang; a sister, Geneva Goode; a brother, Earnest Gamble, Jr.; seven grandchildren: Marva Rashida Deskins Hamilton, Kamalah Chang, Anisa, Michaela, and Hasani Gamble, Malaika Crenshaw, and Omar Smith; six great grandchildren: Tylis, Kiara, Domonique and Elijah Crenshaw, Isis Deskins, and Lailah Hamilton; and one great-great grandson, Mason Thorne. His son, Jerry B. Gamble, daughter, Marva P. Smith, and grandson, Ishans Chang, passed before him. Mr. Gamble served 31 years with the CIA, retiring in 1984. He was an active member of the NAACP, served as a Boy Scout Troop Leader in McLean, was an active member of the Odricks Corner and McLean Citizens Associations, and worked closely with the Fairfax County Police to enhance community relations. A church service will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2015 with a viewing at 10 a.m. and memorial service at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Merrifield, 8122 Ransell Road, Falls Church, Virginia. Interment will be at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in McLean, VA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in the name of Leon C. Gamble to the Fairfax County NAACP.

I knew Mr. Gamble through his credit union. He was without a doubt one of the most kind, caring and gentle individuals I ever had the pleasure to know. He loved his family deeply and adored his wife! My sympathy to all. I only learned of his passing very belatedly yesterday.

Bett, Melvin, and Family - As you are aware, he was one of my (family) best friend. Yes I will miss him, get joy when I think of the Life he led - finding Jobs for the jobless, housing for the homeless, promoting education to the less fortunate, spiritual counseling, brotherhood, and just a spirit of LOVE. His life was a SERMON!! Be Blessed!!
