Leonard Cooper Obituary

Leonard David Cooper, of Bethesda, MD, passed away Wednesday July 3, 2024 with his daughter, Alexis, by his side. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, May 28, 1945, the son of the late Edmund and Sonya Cooper. He was raised in Houston, Texas. He received a masters degree in architecture from Texas A&M University and began his career as an architect in Houston. During his long and fulfilling career he worked for multiple architecture firms in New York, Baltimore, MD, and Washington, DC, on many prestigious projects. Leonard was a devoted and loving family man, living in Chevy Chase, MD.

He retired in 2017, and soon thereafter, met his partner, Jane Mary Kwass, in an exercise class, which led to a wonderful and unexpected romance. Leonard thoroughly enjoyed his remaining years, laughing, dancing, traveling, and listening to music with Jane.

He is survived by his beloved daughter Alexis Cooper; his loving partner, Jane Mary Kwass; sister Sharon Martin; adoring grandsons, Eli and Gabriel, and loving family and friends. He will be deeply missed and remembered by all.

A private funeral was held for family members.
