Lester Greenia Obituary

GREENIA LESTER A. GREENIA (Age 78) Died January 11, 2009 at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital. Lester is preceded in death by his parents, Chauncey and Theda Greenia and wife, Betty Ann; son-in-law, Alan Perkins. Lester was born September 1, 1930 in Vermont. He joined the Army Corp of Engineers when he was 17 and learned to work on engines. While stationed in Fort Belvoir, VA, he met his wife, Betty Ann Harrison. Following his service in the army, Lester and Betty Ann settled in Alexandria where they raised two daughters. After Betty Ann died in 1983, he built a house in Huntingtown, MD, opened an engine repair shop and enjoyed farming. In 2002 Lester moved to Knoxville, TN. Survivors include daughter, Susan Perkins of Knoxville, TN; daughter, Kathy Padgett and husband, Joe of Chesapeake Beach, MD; grandchildren, Christy Johnson (husband Kevin) and Brent Perkins; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Callie Johnson. The family will gather for a private Graveside Service at Mt. Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association.
