LYNWOOD ELKINS Obituary
LYNWOOD KEITH ELKINS "Lyn" (Age 80)
Of Springfield, VA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 surrounded by family. Born in Alexandria, VA, Lyn proudly served in the United States Air Force and later dedicated nearly 24 years of his life to the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, eventually obtaining the rank of Police Chief. As Police Chief, Lyn oversaw the recovery operations of the tragic 1982 Air Florida Flight 90 crash into the 14th Street Bridge. In 1997, he retired as Personnel Security Supervisor for the MWAA. Lyn is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Janet Bopra Elkins; daughters, Debbie L. Allen (Brian), Diane E. McCutcheon (Steve Blanken); grandchildren, Keith, Megan and Amberlee; and great-grandson, Weylyn. The family will receive guests from 6 to 8 p.m., on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Everly Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 W. Braddock Rd., Alexandria, VA. A private burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice (www.capitalcaring.org/donate). An online guest registry may be found at:www.everlywheatley.com

It has been years since I have seen buddy and I'm very sorry for this loss. I lived next door to the family when I was a little girl.
