What a beautiful picture of my best friend, Mae. I am so happy that I was able to visit with her on Tuesday, July 6th as I was heading to Europe. We had a wonderful visit and exchaged "I love you" to each other. God was kind enough to let me visit with her 3 days prior to her transition. Interesting thing though, on that Friday I was in Venice, Italy and I worshiped and lit a candle for Mae in an old Catholic Church as I was on one of the excursions -- not knowing that she was making the transition that day. Mae was the one who inspired my son David to persue attending Morehouse and followed his professional development thru the years. Remember, that I love you all and I share your grief, Mae was the sister that I never had and I will miss her dearly.

She was Ma Wilson. She was such a loving person and non-judgemental. She always had a word (actually- many) words of encouragement. I will truly miss her. Love, Valerie Davies

Wilson Family,

I was saddened to learn of the loss of your mother.

Simple words cannot erase the pain of your loss. But I know that a lifetime of memories and nearness of your family will help to comfort you during this difficult time.

Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

In His Love,

She was Mrs. Wilson or Joyce's mother to me and my family. She welcomed me with open arms and an open heart into her home and family. When she asked about me, she was truly concerned and interested. She was so genuine about everything.

Some of my fondest and funniest memories that have already lasted more than 30 years are when she visited my mother and her new "husband" in Baltimore. It was so hot in the house that she could not believe that my mom's husband was rationing the air condition. I know she could not wait to get out of our hot little house.

I also remember her and "baby" Constance along with Joyce at my wedding reception. We shared many laughs as Constance spun around in her frilly dress on the dance floor.

During about the past 10 to 15 years, she would ask about my mother's health and my mom would ask about hers. In a way, they were kindred spirits.

Her spirit is now at rest without pain and free. It is always hard to lose a family member, friend, classmate, teacher, etc. but when you have such a high regard for the person she was and know the health challenges she faced like a trooper--then you have peace knowing that she is in the arms of our Heavenly Father.

During this time of bereavement, Wilson Family, remember the wonderful, kind and loving person you had the priviledge to count among your family.

Peace, Love, and Blessings to the entire family.

Love, Rhonda Owen-Smith

Mama

You left this earth before we were ready to say good-bye, but we will remember that you lived to give us memories too beautiful to forget. There will be a longing for the sound of your voice, and one more touch. There was a quiet sadness when I found out that you were gone. I love you mama.

When we learned of Mae's transition, we thought of the many expressions that came to us when our sister passed away several years ago. Of all the messages we received, the one which brought the greatest comfort was a poem titled "Thinking of You." It draws a comparison between an individual's life and the flame of a fire. It was sent to us by a member of my church family, and it seems fitting that I share it with other Family members:

"Thinking of You"
Anonymous

Rather than mourn the absence
Of the Flame,
Let us celebrate
How brightly it burned!

Let's comfort one another
With favorite memories
Of sharing times
When we were all together.

Let's celebrate the spirit
Of one very special life,
So in our hearts
The Flame will burn forever.

In the difficult days ahead, we pray that these words will be as comforting to you and your family as they were to us. May God bless you with many happy memories of your beloved mother!

In deepest sympathy and love,
Earle and Hazel
