MARGARET FITZSIMMONS

MARGARET EMMA ADAMS  FITZSIMMONS  
Peacefully passed away on August 16, 2017. The daughter of Florence Donovan Adams and Walter Adams, Marge was born August 25, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating high school, Marge attended night school while working by day at the LaMont Glove Factory. Though she was raised in Chicago, she spent summers and holidays with her beloved great-aunt Margaret Sorenson Henkel, and great-uncle Otto Henkel at their home in Lake Koshkonong, Wisconsin. Her maternal grandfather Walter Donovan was a lighthouse keeper, and inspired by childhood experiences she later became an avid member of the United States Lighthouse Society. Her love of the water, and travel took her to many coasts throughout the US and Europe. Marge married Clifford Irving Fitzsimmons in 1953 (later divorced) and is survived by their five children; Fredric (Jill Balleh) of Boca Raton, FL; Richard of Fairfax, VA; Constance (Andrew Dolloff) of Blacksburg, VA; Kathryn deLorimier (Robert) of Clifton, VA; and Sheryl Barthol (David) of Midlothian, VA along with 15 loving grandchildren. She was a devoted mother, raising her children in Fairfax City, where she was an active volunteer in the community and the schools. Marge returned to work at the Post Office and later C&P Telephone, until she retired. Between her travels, she devoted herself to time with family, and particularly her grandchildren, whom she adored. The family wishes to express deep thanks and appreciation to the loyal staff of Sunrise at George Mason in Fairfax and Capital Caring Hospice, who provided Marge (Ya) with both community and faithful care during the final years of her life. Her gratitude for finding such compassion and kindness among you all will remain ours. A gathering to welcome friends and family to Celebrate Marge's life will be held at a later date.
