MARILYN W. CHIPCHIN died Monday, February 19, 2007, at age 83 years from complications of Parkinson's disease and pneumonia. She was born in Crossett, Arkansas, and moved to New York City to continue studies in music after graduating from high school. Following her marriage to Nelson O. Chipchin, she moved to Germany where she was a very active Foreign Service wife. The family returned and settled in Bethesda, Maryland, in 1972. She volunteered here and abroad for many organizations including Meals-On-Wheels, Walter Reed Army Hospital, and the White House. She attended many different churches including the Bethesda Meeting House, Unitarian Church, Divine Science Church, and the Washington Ethical Society. She loved gardening, travel, theater, opera, meeting new people, and especially spending time with her family.
She was the beloved wife of the late Nelson O. Chipchin; loving mother of Anne (Frederick) Chipchin-Paone, Carole (Alan) Schulman, and Judith Chipchin; devoted grandmother of Alex, Meredith, and Emily. Funeral service will be held at BORGWARDT FUNERAL HOME, 4400 Powder Mill Road, Beltsville, MD, on Saturday, February 24, at 10 a.m. Interment Cedar Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, P. O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163.
