Phil,
the news of Mark's passing hit us hard. Seems like only yesterday we were tinkering around the antique stores of Williamsburg, and only days before that we were frollicking in Lisbon. Mark was so even-keeled, and we'll miss his wry sense of humor. If we rode Harleys we'd do a few laps around the block in his memory, but for now we'll just take comfort in the thought he's out on the open road doing what he enjoys. May God take care of you and everyone else who was close to Mark as you work through your sorrow and grief.
With deepest sympathies and all our love, Dale and John

Dear Phillipa and family,
Maria Lucia and I are very sorry about Mark passing away, please receive our condolences. We truly enjoyed both of you during our service together in Lisbon and all the color and liveliness that Mark brought to our embassy; from his community involvement to his big blue Harley roaring in the embassy garden.
Um grande abraco,

Mark,
As i remember:
I just remember you back in times when we were alot younger, always remember you laughing and having a serious but joking side to you, i remember the trucks and the cars, the buying and trading, the funny stuff, i remember those times, i do remember you saying in your own way, that if something is goin to happen its goin to happen, you can only do some much about it, its goin to happen without much control over it, most the time i remember you saying Dont worry about it, i know there are a lot of people out there that will remember you and miss you, to hear about you now only brings back what i remember, to think everyone has lost touch as they gotten older, but the ties are still there, everyone has a time and place to be, and just happend to be yours, its a little too soon, but then again maybe your needed somewhere else, its sad, and we all have to face it at some time, i hope that all will be taken care of in your absence, rest assured even after all these years you have not been forgotten when you think maybe you have been
Will See you when the time comes,
