Marvin, I trust you and Carolyn are enjoying soaring with the angels as you continue to evolve on your Soul´s Journey! You are missed!

I received a reading from Ina, one of the chapel's mediums on Sunday at The All Message Service. She channeled Marvin, who said there was a white mini van, that he was going to get someone to drive me in. I emailed Carolyn to tell her about the reading and she replied by saying that
she used to drive a white mini van before she could no longer drive. This is proof to me that it was, indeed Marvin, whom she was channeling.

There was a montage of photographs of Marvin shown at the Sunday Service on March 11, 2018. I felt tremendous healing energy coming to us all, as the montage was shown, as did several other sensitives among us.

Its hard to believe that its been 22 years since Marvin came into our family. A stranger at first, he quickly folded in and became a staple at every family event. It wasnt easy though. You see, were what they call and Amazon family where women rule, and gender trumps age.
At every family event, Marvin was the one to bring the Maryland blue crabs. He knew every crab shack in the area and loved crabs whether they were steamed, spiced, hot or cold, summer or winter, in the backyard or at the dining room table. He transported the crabs from here to New York to Atlanta.
Next to crabs, Marvin was a lover of jazz. If he could find an event like the Chesapeake Crab and Jazz Festival, he was in Heaven. He introduced me to jazz nights at the UDC campus where he worked. He also loved plays and all performance events. He took advantage of all the social activities around Washington. I remember going to dinner theatre one night when Marvin thought he was in the cast. During the performance, he kept talking to the actorsmuch to their and our chagrin.
Well always remember Marvin for his corny jokes. He always had a fresh one every time you saw him, whether you had heard that one or not. I remember his breathy laughheh, heh, heh, heh. Usually, he was the only one laughing. But that didnt stop him because he always tried to bring joy and laughter to every situation. Come to think of it, I cant remember a single time when I ever heard him raise his voice in anger.
Marvin became a staple at our monthly family pot-luck prayer gatherings. We always assigned him the drinks. We took turns saying the blessing and Marvin always ended his prayers, holding palms over the food, with the declaration, We are so grateful. We are so grateful. We are so grateful. He loved the prayer sessions and never missed.
Marvin was extremely spiritual. Church was the center of his life and he served God faithfully.
Marvin will be remembered best by our family for his love and dedication to our sister. He didnt call her Carol like we did. But he afforded her the dignity by calling her by her full given name Carolyn. We cant forget the affection she so lovingly showed to Carol. He was famous for gently feeding her a bite from his dessert plate whether she needed it or not.
When Carol had some mobility issues, with patience, he made sure she got to every place and appointment on time. They certainly didnt miss a single social occasion.
When Carol received a kidney transplant, there was none other more grateful than Marvin. He continued to express his gratefulness long after, and gratefulness became the mark of his character. Marvin never worried about the things of this earth.
Marvins love wasnt only directed at Carol. He loved God, he loved people and he loved life. The love he gave to others was returned to him through the many kind deeds and expressions to Carol at his passing. To love and be loved is all that any of us could ask for in life. In that regard, Marvin lived the perfect life.

The Family

Marvin, If you were greeted in heaven, half as warmly as I was at church on my first day, you must be sing and soaring with the angels. Thank you for your warm sunshine smile and welcome. You will be missed.

May Marvin's soul rest in eternal peace. His life was a beacon of light. The essence of his purpose was service to others. His instruments were selflessness, generosity, and acts of kindness. His passing was an incredible loss to humanity. In short, a great loss of a beautiful human being who brought joy to the world.

I am saddened Marvin passed away, however, I was privileged to meet and love him as a comrade and neighbor. His loving heart, keen intellect, wisdom and beautiful soul were evident by his humble and kind treatment towards others. His residence at Victory Court Senior Apartments enriched the community at large and personally was a source of friendship. In short , the essence of his soul was manifested in all he did .Marvin was selfless and loving . A truly beautiful human being, a leader and someone with whom I felt his decency and deep humanity. In short, a rare human being who deeply enriched the lives of the residents at Victory Court... A life well lived and a blessing to all.

Carolyn, in life there often are unrecognized heroes among our ordinary neighbors. We recognize that Marvin was a hero, and we have missed the both of you since you moved from Victory Court. Carolyn, your heavenly father knows your needs. He will always give you what you need from day to day. Luke 12:30-31

Marvin, our dear friend, you were a breath of fresh air. We sang in tune, and out of tune, at our Victory Court Care Group, but we were always together in Jesus and love. Rest in peace! We love you!

During my 9th birthday celebration which my family had organized, Marvin got up spontaneously and made a lovely little speech. It touched me deeply as it came so sincerely from his heart. Goodness just seemed to flow out of him.

Marvin, I will always remember your warm smile, fun-loving spirit, and willingness to always help your neighbors at Victory Court. With your dapper style, buoyant personality and comical jokes, you inspired me and so many others to always be positive and appreciate the dawn of a new day. I know that you will be checking in on us from the other side!

I will miss interacting with you at the Chapel. As former Marine Veterans we would occasionally greet each with the marine greeting of "Semper Fi", I enjoyed our camaraderie. You always encouraged me to think and speak positively. Once, I slipped and complained to you about my aching knees. You stopped me and said, "they're never going to get better if you keep talking negative about them. Think about how they got you here, now that's a positive thought." As I continue my journey along this path I will always remember your wisdom. Rest with God my Brother. So glad we met on our paths.

Marvin was one of the most positive people I have ever met. He always greeted me with a smile and a hug, when I entered the chapel. I remember one Sunday, when he gave a $2.00 bill to all of the people who helped the greeters. He was always doing something special for the chapel and for all of us.
