MARY CROSS

MARY LOUISE STEWART CROSS  
Cherished wife of the late Delbert L. Cross, peacefully departed this life after a long illness on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. Mom Cross was born on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1940 and was truly a guardian angel to many who knew her. Raised in Avinger, Texas, Mom Cross moved to Washington, District of Columbia. after graduation from high school and began her long career in the field of catering and restaurant entrepreneurship in which she partnered with her late husband, Mr. Cross, to establish Adelis Restaurant, known locally for its excellent soul food cuisine. She leaves to cherish: two daughters, Velma Lolita Rushing Hart (Karlton) and Marion Lynette Dixon Powell (Wayne); four grandchildren, Christopher L. Dixon, Krista R. Hart, Margennae L. Dixon and Kara R. Hart; seven great-grandchildren, Diamond, Tylan, Jaleigh, Dynasti, Dylan, Ethan, and Mila. She is proceeded in death by her mother, Nellie M Fisher; father, Fred J. Rushing Sr; step-father Willie R. Fisher; brothers Arthur Rushing Sr, Sonny Fisher, and a sister, Maureen Burns. She is survived by four brothers and four sisters, Willie Jones (Thelma), Velma Walker, Eva Davis, Neveater Fisher Green (Billy), Esther Aldridge all of Dallas, Texas, Charles Rushing (Rachel) of San Jose, California, and Fred Rushing Jr. (Margate), James Rushing (Darlene) of Atlanta, Georgia along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and loving friends whose lives she touched and indelibly changed with her love.  Services will be held on Saturday, March 10 at Rock Creek Baptist Church, 6707 Woodyard Road, Upper Marlboro, Maryland 20772. Viewing at 10 a.m., Funeral at 11 a.m.
