McDONALD MATTHEW CASEY McDONALD February 16, 1977 ~ May 5, 2012 Son of Ruthann and the late John McDonald; brother of John O. McDonald and the best friend anyone could ask for, passed away peacefully in the arms of his mother and his older brother. Casey was 35 years old. He was surrounded by family and friends, both in person and in spirit. Casey beat cancer by embracing his condition, living life without regrets and enjoying every waking minute. He was a member of the class of 1995 of Hauppauge High School in N.Y. where he played soccer and basketball. Casey was also a graduate of William & Mary in 1999 where he was President of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He was an avid golfer, connoisseur of food, drink and good times as well as a passionate fan of his Washington Wizards, New York Yankees and Super Bowl champion Giants. Casey was everyone's best friend, had an uncanny ability to put a smile on your face, and touched the hearts of all who crossed his path. He leaves behind a loving family and hundreds of friends.Casey's life will be celebrated with family and friends at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 18825 Fuller Heights Road, Triangle, Virginia on Monday, May 14 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow. Also, our loving Casey will be remembered at a funeral mass on Wednesday, May 16 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church,115 Kings Highway, Hauppauge, New York at 11 a.m. The McDonald family has requested that memorial gifts may be made to The Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research (www.jimmyv.org) or to a special charity the family cares very much about, the El Cerado Project in the Dominican Republic. This project serves a large population overwhelmed with cholera and other life threatening conditions providing many with a small hospital, electricity, a clean water system , and medicine, etc. If you would like to help, please send your check made out to DRVC Mission with a notation on the memo line as follows: Casey McDonald - El Cerado Project.
