WILLIAMS, MATTIE LUE (Age 92)
On May 19, 2003, the wife of the late Dr. Chancellor Williams, African historian, made her transition. She nurtured her children and grandchildren as well as friends and neighbors. Mrs Williams lived in the "White House" of Deanwood for more than 68 years in Northeast Washington. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, family dinners, shopping for bargains and sightseeing by car. Preceding Mrs. Williams' journey Home were sons, Chancellor Williams Jr., Dorthan Williams, Curtis Williams, Elroy C. Williams, Jerome Williams and daughter, Dorothy Rose. She leaves to honor her memory sons, Rev. John V. Williams, Robert C. Williams, C. James Williams; daughters, Marjorie Constentine, Bernice Williams, Dr. Mattie Collins, Hattie Phillips and Aressa V. Williams. There are 32 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 37 great-great-grandchildren, two nieces and a host of friends and neighbors. Friends may call at the First Baptist Church of Deanwood, 1008 45th St. N.E., Washington, D.C., on Friday, May 23, from 9 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Interment Fort Lincoln Cemetery. Arrangements by HENRY S. WASHINGTON & SONS.
