MAURICE WHELAN Obituary

Maurice Joseph Whelan
Maurice Joseph Whelan passed away peacefully at home in Rockville, Maryland on February 5, 2021. Maurice was born on April 7, 1943, in Portsmouth, Virginia to Dorothea and Maurice Whelan. He attended Nativity elementary school, Gonzaga College High School, and the University of Maryland. A certified public accountant, he founded his own firm, Whelan, Barsky and Graham in 1974 and sold it to American Express in May, 2000. Maurice will be remembered for his passion for fishing on the Chesapeake Bay, his incredible sense of humor (including his affection for his well-worn gorilla costume), his appreciation for nice cars, his love of travel and new adventures, but most of all for his generous spirit, and his love and devotion to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Lynn Ann Whelan, his loving children: Daniel Whelan (Sandra), Patricia Wiley, Michael Whelan (Melanie), Kelly Whelan, Ryan Long and Megan Long Beukema (Donnie) and his eight cherished grandchildren, Alexandra, Brendan, Shannon, Mark, Emily, Riley, Lexi and Caroline Scott. A family service is planned for this Fall. May he rest In peace.
