Michael Daley Obituary

Commander Michael J. Daley, USN, Retired, died April 27, 2024, at the age of 84 after a brief illness. He is survived by his two children, Mark and Kelly; four grandchildren, Maximillian, Sebastian, Christian, and Samrawit and sister-in-law, Donna. He is predeceased by his wife, Rhoda. Originally from Naugatuck, Connecticut, he graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1961 with a degree in Civil Engineering and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1963. Throughout the Vietnam War, Mike served on aircraft carriers, holding the position of Chief Meteorologist within the war theater. In subsequent years, Mike served as a navigator on Lockheed Constellations tracking Soviet Submarines in the Atlantic, served as the Executive Officer of the Naval Weather Operations Center in the Pacific at Pearl Harbor, and ended his Honorable 24-year military career at the Pentagon at the Rank of Commander. After the Navy Mike worked for a single defense contractor acquired seven times, ultimately retiring from Northrop Grumman in 2009. Michael and Rhoda Daley will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 9 a.m. Guests are asked to arrive at the cemetery 45 minutes prior to the service.
