I recently found out of Mike's passing. I still remember the last time I saw him, he was newly engaged. I went to school with him and met him through my brother and other engineering friends. Mike was a fun person to be around always smiling and laughing. He will be missed. My deepest sympathies on his passing.

Thinking of you Mike. Remembering your wry grin & big bear hugs, and so many memories ... our Va Tech years ... and the delicious dinner you made the last time we visited and how hard we all laughed that weekend. You were such a wonderful person, true friend, and great brother. I miss you more than words.

I'm so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. He was a friend and colleague at Virginia Tech. He was working on his Ph.D. while I was working on masters degree under Dr. Rodger Simpson. He was always cheerful and helpful. I will always remember the great times we had in Blacksburg. He is missed.

My dear brother and friend, Mike. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you and miss you. You are the best friend anyone could dream of and more. I miss you so much but take solace in your peace. I know you're with us, but I can't help but miss the human form of you. You are such an amazing man and soul. I admire you and aspire to live my life more like you and be more like you. Thirty three years ago today Mike was 7 years & 3 months old; Teresa was 1 day old; David was 1 & 1/2 yrs, Veronica 4 & 1/2 yrs and Paul 6 yrs & 3 months old. What joy and promise in our family that day on the Feast of St. Teresa of Avila. What an exciting adventure for us all. Mike was a loving and faithful brother and son. He accomplished so much inspite of his adversities and in the end he stayed faithful to his God. I believe he accomplished more than he ever hoped possible but I also believe his death brought more sadness than he ever imagined could bring to so many, many people. Let us remember Mike's humble way and be inspired by his example to love everyone unconditionally without judgement. Let not his death be in vain. RIP dear Mike.

It's been a longtime since I've seen Mike - since our sophomore year at McLean after which I moved. I played football with mike and remember him as a solid bedrock element of the team. He had a great sense of humor and was just an all around great guy who always had quiet words of encouragement for those of us riding the bench. I'd like to say that our world is a little less colorful now that he is gone - but I think his time here with us far outshines his passing. I'm glad I knew him. I think we are all better people for having had that privilege.

Sandy, China, and family,
Although I only knew Mike indirectly through knowing Sandy, his wonderful mother, I am touched in reading these entries how Mike affected lives all over the world. We can pay him no greater tribute than to live as he would have done. May he rest in peace.

To China, Mrs. G, Paul, Veronica, Dave, and Teresa: I'm so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. To this day, he remains one of the nicest, most genuine, and most thoughtful people I've ever met. I can't imagine the grief that you must be feeling now. I do hope that one day you can look back at these entries, and take comfort in the fact that he will live on for so many people - in their hearts and their memories.

After I hung up from the phone call telling me that Mike had passed away, I just cried and cried. I tried to explain to my husband what a wonderful person Mike was...and was so sad that they were never able to meet. I remember many fun times spent with Mike...usually with Tor, Trey & Bob in tow. One time in particular I remember I was taking photos for the McLean yearbook and the 5 of us decided that it would be a good idea to pretend that the four of them were on a ski trip together...they posed on Tor's back deck with skis, poles and their letter jackets. We had such fun that day.
Mike will be greatly missed...China, Mrs. Goody, Paul and the rest of the family, I am so sorry for your loss.

A great man was lost. He is so deserved of this wonderful site. I'm not sure I had him in any classes, but I'm glad to be have been blessed with his pleasant charm through my high school years, even if it was just in passing in the hallways.

I was devastated to learn of Mike's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with China, Sandy, Paul and the entire Goody family. Mike was a true gentleman and scholar. When I think of Mike the first thing that comes to mind is – perseverance. Mike was a person that was always able to find the intestinal fortitude to reach his goals and show others that through hard work they too could do anything they set their mind too. Mike will be missed but never forgotten.

My deepest sympathies to the entire goody family. Although I hadn't seen Mike in years I have very fond memories of him and Paul on the Kent Gardens Swim team. We also went to CCD Catholic School together and Mike sense of humor was always refreshing to me.
I remember snow ball wars at the Wadsworths with Mike and Paul as well as Kick the Can and Kick ball in the cold de sac
This tragedy has had a deep and profound impact on my life in ways that I am not understanding at this time. Paul it was good to see you again, I am sorry that is was under such sad and heartbreaking conditions. I will always remember Mike's sense of humor, sharp wit and incredable and respected intelligence. I love you Mike, you are the most non judgemental, sweetest person I had come across in this life and I only wish I had a chance to see you again one more time.

I just can't believe it. I am just devistated over the loss of my good friend Mike Goody. Mike was one of the good guys, i just dont know what to say-I remember freshman football with mike, i was the 2nd string QB, he was the RB at the time, the play was an off tackle dive , i was supposed to spin to my right and hand him the ball off my right shoulder- i spun left and mike slammed into me- what i remember most was the look on his face, his eyes were wide open as if he had seen a ghost. We both hit the ground laughing and laughed about it for years after. Again, Mike was one of the good guys and i wish i could just talk to him right now.

I am so sorry to hear about the unexpected loss of Mike. He will be remembered as a sweet, jovial guy. My fondest memories of him are from Kent Gardens swim team and high school football. I was shocked and saddened at the news that Mike had passed away. I met him at VT in 1994 and knew that he was capable of excellent research. He was one of the best PhD students that I have had over the past 40 years. He was self motivated, thorough in his work, a real scholar, and very knowledgable. His journal contributions are a legacy of his work. He was a thinker and debated technical issues, yet he was kind and thoughtful in the way he conducted his debate. He was always a gentleman. I always enjoyed his company and discussions about technical issues, as recent as 3 times in the last few months. I will miss him. My heartfelt prayers are for comfort to his family.
