I was saddened to learn that Michael has passed away. I just found out yesterday. I have very good and heartfelt memories of Michael at the Naval Research Laboratory. I was fortunate enough to share an office with him shortly after I joined the laboratory in 1983. As a new and young member of the Optical Sciences Division, I found that Michael was very understanding and a great person to discuss any issues that I confronted there at the time. His memory should be a blessing to his family.
sincerely,
Marc Mermelstein

Mr. Marrone was one of the smartest, kindest men I ever met in my life. He coached our baseball team when Mike and I were 9 years old. We were the smallest on the team.Mr. Marrone was meticulous, he kept stats better than MLB teams. I always questioned why he gave kids hits for walks. I would always tell him a Walk is not a hit, he would just smile at me.
I ended up playing baseball in college and now I coach. I understand, Mr. Marrone, why you helped those kids with the stats. I try to emulate you as a Coach today. You were an incredible inspiration..
The apple does not fall from the tree because Mike and your daughters are all a tribute to you and Mrs. Marrone. All incredible smart and Kind, with the exception of Mike. :)
Mike still reminds me he tutored Gerry Faust's son in math at Notre Dame because Gerry wanted the smartest kid at Notre Dame to do so.
My prayers and are with Entire Marrone Family,
David Lee and Family

I am sending so much love to the Marrone family. Joe and Pat and their children are such sweet parts of my Oxon Hill childhood and I am sad that they are now feeling this loss.
The entire Ekelund family send their love.
