MICHAEL BRENT MUTRYN Student and UMD Hockey Player
Michael Brent Mutryn, 23, of Potomac, MD passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 20, 2014. Michael was born on March 17, 1991 to Thomas and Donna Mutryn. The family moved to Potomac in 1998 where Michael attended Landon School and then Churchill High School where he graduated in 2009. He attended Miami University of Ohio and then Montgomery College and University of Maryland, where he was majoring in economics. Michael, whose smile and spirited personality lit up a room, was a loyal friend, a dedicated and enthusiastic teammate, a health and fitness aficionado, and an up-and-coming entrepreneur. Ice hockey was his passion and he played zealously for many years. He was known as "Gaston" to his UMD teammates, which embodied his strength and perseverance on the ice. He was much-loved, and his infectious spirit and presence will be greatly missed by his parents, sister, grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Friends will be received at PUMPHREY'S BETHESDA-CHEVY CHASE FUNERAL HOME 7557 Wisconsin Ave, Bethesda, MD., on Friday, April 25th from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 26 at the funeral home. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in memory of Michael Brent Mutryn to Caron Treatment Center, 7315 Wisconsin Avenue Suite 790 East, Bethesda, MD 20814. Dear Tom and Donna;
Only yesterday did I hear of Michael passing on to eternal life. I have very fond memories of Michael and your family. In fourth grade, Michael had enough exuberance to "light up the entire lower school." He will always be remembered and for now he is safe in God's loving hands. You will see him again and when you do, seperation will no longer exist. Please accept our deepest apologies for your loss. We are thinking about you and praying for you.

My most fervent prayers go out to you tonite and those of many others to whom Michael's story will touch close to home. Our dear parish priest was praying for Michael and your family today. We, too, live in Potomac and our son attended Landon and now Churchill. We pray for your strength and love for each other which will keep Michael's spirit alive!!

Dan and I are thinking of you during this most difficult time! We so enjoyed meeting Michael at a Washington Capitals game, where we got to see what an amazing young man Michael was destined to be. Our daughter Molly became friends with Michael this year at UMD and is heartbroken over his tragic death. She will always remember Michael as a caring and wonderful friend who adored his sister and was a generous loving spirit. Our prayers go out to you and we are calling all angels for your comfort and support at this painful time.

i'm sad and very sorry to see that this happened to mike. he was a great guy, a great teammate, and will be missed. he only played with us one season and last year in atlantic city, but we had a great time with him and hope that he has found peace.
