I am so sorry to hear of Mike's death. I worked with him for many years and in many states. He was terrific the way he always maintained his composure and sense of humor. And he always picked the best resorts for our meetings! My sympathies to the family. Marji Philips

Hi, Rachel --

It's been almost 3 weeks since Mike died and we've thought a lot about you. You've been so brave through this long ordeal. I remember first meeting Mike at one of Daniel's early concerts and thinking, "Wow -- he and Rachel make a beautiful couple!" Jim enjoyed talking with Mike before and after those bass lessons, as did I (sometimes he and I would talk while he sat in his car in the driveway). He had a friendly way about him and a charming smile.
I'm glad he had you to make him laugh (like you've always made everybody laugh with your fun sense of humor). We'll stay in touch. HUGS, Ruth and Jim

Since I first met Michael in 1996, he was always very kind, patient and helpful. To me he was the sort of man you do not have to know long before you know he is a good and decent man. I remember seeing him walk on the beach with his wife and two children in San Diego one time and it was clear that here was a man who loved his family dearly and in turn was treasured by them. I will miss Michael.

I had the privilege of working with Mike for several years in connection with the Western Systems Power Pool. His contributions to that organization and, through it, to the public at large were enormous and lasting. We can take comfort in the proud legacy Mike has left us.

Rachel and the Small family.

I have known Michael since 1981 -- and although I never knew him well, I have been on the receiving end of his generosity and seen first-hand the strong family he has built and the legacy he has left behind. It is with heartfelt sadness to hear of his passing and I wish to convey the deepest condolences to the entire Small family.

To the Beloved family of Mike Small - it is with deep saadness that we have lost a dear friend and business associate. He will be missed immeasurabily and I offer my condolences to the surviving family members as you must be the ones with the most sadness. My long time college professor said that we only rent in life and never own but in this case Mike is now an owner with God as he surely deserves it after his ordeals. I can relate very, very vividly to his being and can only offer that he is in a place where God can care for him and share His love to you and his loved ones.
May God Bless you, and all his family in this time of transition and I pray, Mike will be happy in the arms of God.
