Its as if I crawled out from under a rock. I'm totally shocked to discover a living legend is no longer here on earth but blazing a trail through heaven. I worked at Hair Power as a receptionist around 1980, I was just a kid, having fun there, enjoying creative people like Michel and his beautiful family. It was like we all were growing up then. Michel was smart, flamboyant, so funny, charming and sexy, you could say, "uni-sexy" because I observed everyone was charmed by him and loved him. And yes, he set the standards high. I just lost my husband of 32 yrs, Don, another great spirit, who knew Michel too, I'm sure, it's been hard on Michels family. Just last month while visiting my daughter in Denver, I told a stylist named Mark about Michel, not knowing Michel has passed. I described Michel as smart, flamboyant, so funny, etc^ and Hair Power too. How Michel flipped a girl up side down, really up side down, and cut her hair, when she stood up, her hair had perfect layers. I told him that he reminded me a little of Michel, and how Michel was loved by all, and how successful he was.
So, even though he passed, he lives on too.
God please bless him and his family.

I met Michel in 1979 at his Springfield Mall Salon - Hair Power. My sister & I were rabid fans, not only for his artistry (because he was a wonderful stylist) but for his humor, his zest for life, and his friendship. He was so tender and kind to me when I lost my sister to cancer in 2003 and I've never forgotten his words of encouragement. I followed him from the Mall, to his Frontier Drive location, his short stint in G'town and finally to E. Ardens. He left us far too soon and will be dearly missed.

I'm deeply saddened to hear this news. I met Michel at Hair Power in 1990. He was such a kind, wonderful person & excellent stylist. I'd done some modeling & he ask me to be in his commercial for the salon. We had a fun day at Hair Power getting the girls ready for the shoot. My condolences to his family.

I first met Michel in 1983 in Hair Power Days. He was the first person in the U.S.A. to cut and style my hair very well, that come to par to my previous hairstylists while on assignments in Rome, Italy; Bangkok, Thailand and Cairo, Egypt, Amman, Jordan and Manila, Philippines as well . . . he has set a standard I still judge others by.
It has been about 5 years since I last saw him. Now am back in town, and happens to have an upcoming wedding to attend to on June 5th, as one of the principal sponsors; so for such an special occasion I thought of going to him to have my usual total hair work/styling that he does so well, of which I was always so please . . . he was such a true artist. Hence, I Google for him just to make sure that he’s still at the Hair Salon in Tyson’s Corner, and to call to set up an appointment . . . lo and behold to my surprised and shocked learned that he had passed on to our God the Father’s Eternal Home. My heart is so sad, with tears from my eyes and lump on my throat . . . what a great loss for us all!
In loving memory of a wonderful person and amazing artist amongst great hair stylists. My sincere condolences to his family. Eternal rest, O Lord, grant unto Michel; let your perpetual light shine upon his soul, and through the Mercy of God may he rest in peace. Amen.

I am shocked! It has been about 8 years since I last saw Michel. He styled my hair...the only person I could just say "do what you think is best" and I was always please with the results...a true artist. He always treated me as if I were special...even with all the busyness around him. I met Michel in 1975..he was the first person to ever cut my hair...such a kind, kind soul. I moved away from the DC area in 1989 and when I was around visiting relatives I would plan to have my hair done by him.
I am so sorry and my heart is sad. My deepest condolences to his family. May Michel be at peace in the Light of Christ.

It's has almost been a year since we lost Michel, but yet it's still unreal. A thought will go through my head and I want to call him. But then I realize, I can't just pick up the phone. It still feels like yesterday that I heard the terrible news.
I miss our talks, his sarcastic jokes as he's doing my hair, seeing him in Tyson's mall as I was on my lunch break, everything about him.
He was full of love and no matter what was going on in his head; he always had a smile on his face.
He will always be missed and always be loved.

Many days have passed now as our dear Friend Michel has not been seen. We miss him dearly, We love him more than life itself.. He has brought so many people an abundant and happy life and so many beutiful memmorise which are as beutiful as his face itself. Our Grief we pray is short as we trust our Love in the hands and heart of our Creator where he so abides now and in the being of all who loves and adors. Him We thank God first for our Friend Michel and we thank Michel for being himself the most beutiful of persons and the BEST of our Lives. Our adoration for Michel is beyond words that can be expressed. He was the expression of what it is to ador. and he is no longer embodied. It is so hard to imagine that such a wonderful soul can be taken from us so soon. We know and trust that he fullfilled what this life had for him to do. For that we are eternally grateful. God BLEss Michel and His Family and Loved ones. We hope Our tears someday will be replaced with happiness in the life hereafter.

I learned of this tragedy this morning when trying to make an appointment with Michel. He was the only person who cut my hair for more than 25 years since the Hair Power days in Springfield Mall. I followed him to the other shop in Springfield, to Georgetown and then to The Red Door in Tysons. He was an artist, a gentleman and a friend.

To the Noufal family,
I will always remember Michel with much love and grace. Each time that I would go to Michel to cut and style my hair one thing remains true, I always walked away feeling beautiful. Michel was irreplaceable to me as a stylist and dignified gentleman. I can only imagine the blessing to have Michel as a husband, father, son, and brother. May the grace and dignity of Michel spirit live on in this world through souls that he has left behind. Much love to his family and friends.

To Barbara Noufal, Allison Noufal, and the entire Noufal family,
I am deeply saddened to hear of Michel's passing. I worked with him from 1997 to 1990 as a shampoo girl and receptionist at his Springfield salon. I have so many fond memories of those years, but what I do remember is how much he loved life and having fun. I also remember how much he loved his wife and daughter. He was serious when it came to business, carefree during down time, but something changed greatly inside him when Allison was born. I will always cherish having those memories and experiences. All my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dear Noufal family,
I was so shocked and sorry to hear about Michel's passing. I worked for him as shampoo girl back in 1985 at Hairpower. I remember how talented and artistic he was at his craft. He was such a creative innovator. I would stop in and say hello for years even after I stopped working for him. He was such a powerful and noble soul just like a king. He trained so many hairdressers to be extraordinary. I learned so much from just being around him. He will be forever missed. God bless him and your family... With warm thoughts....and prayers.....Cara Anderson Riley

Dear Barbara, Allison and the entire Noufal family: I have just heard the news. I am so heart broken. I am finding it very hard to find the words to express my deep heart felt emotions. Michel and all of you were very much a family to me for many years. Michel was my mentor. He taught me how to be a great hairdresser and in addition taught me the salon business(which has given me great success over the years).Michel was such a great teacher of "life" with stories and advice always to share. He was and will always be an "Icon" in the world of hairdressing....I wish to express my sorrow to you all. As the founder of one of the very first unisex salons in the Metropolitan area, Michel has made history and leaves us all his legacy as an innovator of modern hairdressing. I am proud to have trained with him and will never forget him as he has touched my life and the lives of many.....
My best, Robin Jordan Freidman

Dear Noufal Family,
Michel was one of our favorite people in the world. We have known him for 25 years. He did my girls hair for my Daughter Mia Karam's wedding. We have all gone to him and looked to him for humor and wisdom over many years. We loved him very much and are so sorry for his loss. He was very devoted to his family and led the way for all of them to come to America from Lebanon. He will be missed by so many people. God bless you all.

Dear Elie and entire Noufal Family: My family and I have been clients at your salon for four years. We only recently met Michel twice while at the salon. We talked about iPhones, families, food, hair, and garden plots. He was so easy to talk with, and we immediately liked him very much. He reminded us all very much of my brother. We wanted to say that you are all in our thoughts and prayers, and you have our deepest sympathy.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Noufal and Family~
I would like you to know that you are in my thougths and prayers at this very difficult time. While I did not know your Michel, personally, my sister, Debbie, has shared her stories about Michel and your family since she first met you as a teenager.
What I came to know and undertand is that your family was always blessed with an abundance of love and devotion for one another and I believe in my heart, it will be that love which will help to see you through in the days ahead. As a parent, I do believe the loss of a child would be the greatest suffering anyone could be called to endure, but I have faith that when this life ends, there is a perfect paradise waiting for us. Your Michel is in that place of perfection now and while his physical presence will be absent in your life, his spirit and love will be with you always -- it will never leave you.
With my heartfelt sympathy ~
Sincerely,
Patti Morgan

Dear Noufal Family,
I am very sad and sorry to hear about Michel. He was a great motivator, mentor and father and cared about all of his family very much. He loved life and wasted no time living it. He leaves behind what others shall carry on, laughter, love, but never anger. He inspired most and me personally growing up, as I was his client starting at age 6. I knew him all my life and he leaves behind "a history full of life and happiness", what everyone should endure in their future. He would not want it any different for his entire family. Let peace be with all of you and in Michel.
Regards, Sherry Smiley
