Mildred Smith Obituary

Mildred Rampy Smith, 99, of Falls Church, died on January 4, 2025. She was born in Philadelphia, PA. Mildred's family moved several times during her childhood. They lived in Washington, DC where she graduated high school from Woodrow Wilson High School. Mildred then went to Abilene Christian College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, Cume Laude. She worked at the Pentagon. There a friend introduced her to Dick. Mildred and Dick were founding members of the Church of Christ in Falls Church, VA.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Lt. Col. Richard E. Smith, USMC who she was married to for 61 years and is survived by son Barry R. Smith and his wife Susan of Annandale; two grandchildren, Grant Smith and his children Rylin Smith and Radyn Smith of Centreville; Mandy Smith of Raleigh, NC, a brother Gordon Rampy and his wife Bert of Warrenton, VA.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, 11:30 a.m., at the Church of Christ in Falls Church, 6149 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, VA. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
