She would often have art shows at the Katzen Art Center where many of her works sold and are hanging on the walls in several area homes. Because of her love for art, she and her husband, Dr. Cyrus Katzen, founded the Katzen Art Center at American University. She and Cy also contributed to the "The Dr. Cyrus and Myrtle Katzen Cancer Research Center" at GW Hospital.
Myrtle was born and raised in Washington, DC. She was a local girl who never left town. She had a great, long life. One of her favorite charities was the Make a Wish Foundation and St Judes Childrens Research Hospital.

I met Myrtle Katzen when I joined Group 93, an art colloquium made up of American University MFA graduates that met at AU for critique sessions.
Myrtle was an active and serious participant for many years. Her paintings small and large are dynamic and colorful. Her contribution to the DC art world was significant. She and her husband, Cyrus Katzen created the Katzen Art Center and the American University Museum to Washington DC. I will miss her kindness and her welcoming smile. Her
