NICHOLAS GEORGE CARDY "Nick"
Age 67, of Frederick, MD, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2019, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Kelley Ann Rodgers Cardy. Born in Washington, DC on October 11, 1951, he was a son of the late George and Irene Polis Cardy. Surviving in addition to his wife are his children; Alex Cardy and Chantay Jensen, of Las Vegas, NV, Selina Adams and Joe, of Severna Park, Jason Ramsburg and Tonya, of Beijing, China and Jeffrey Ramsburg, of Frederick,3 grandchildren, brothers, Thomas Cardy and Suzanne, of Germantown and Frank Cardy and Margaret, of Silver Springs, several nieces, nephews and many cousins. The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m., on Saturday, August 10, 2019. at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m., on Sunday, August 11, 2019, at the Calvary United Methodist Church, 131 West Second Street, Frederick, MD 21701. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to The Bettie Jane Cancer Foundation, P. O. Box 225, Braddock Heights, MD 21703 ( http://www.bettiejanecancerfoundation.org) or to the National Niemann Pick Disease Foundation, P. O. Box 49, Fort Atkinson, WI 53581-0049. I attended Nick's funeral service today listened to all the wonderful stories all the great things everyone had to say about this great man.. I feel so lucky and blessed to have known Nick. Dear Kelly and family,
We are shocked and deeply saddened by the news of Nick passing. He was the best ever advocate for our son Matthew during his school years. I am certain Matthew could not have made it without him. He was one of the kindest, loving, and giving people I have ever met and will be dearly missed. We pray that God will bless and comfort you and your family in your time of loss. Nicholas without a doubt has a special place in heaven.

Albert and I are incredibly saddened by Nick's passing. He was such an incredible human being and we will forever miss his humor and his kind, giving nature. MR NICK WAS EDDIE KAUFFMAN'S SPECIAL ED TEACHER. IT WAS WONDERFUL AT HIS JOB. ALL THE STUDENTS LEARNED A LOT. HE ALWAYS HAD A WAY WITH THEM AND TO BE ABLE TO TEACH THEM. SO SORRY TO HEAR OF YOUR LOSS. HE WAS ALWAYS SMILING. WE ALSO REMEMBER HIM WORKING AT THE FOOD STAND AT WALKERSVILLE CARNIVAL.THE STUDENTS HAVE FOND MEMORIES OF HIM TO CHERISH. The whole Chipouras family is heartbroken to hear this sad news about Nicky. Louie and Nicky were close friends during High School and he spent lots of time at our house. He always had a smile on his face and was very kind.
He will truly be missed, may his memory be eternal.

Nick (and Tommy Phelps) both moved into University of Maryland Anne Arundel dorm in 1971. (This 4-floor dorm was previously all women.) "Boys" moved into the 2nd floor. I remember Nicky roaming my hallway (3rd floor) looking for leftover pizza. He was always had a big smile on his face. I have happy memories of the dorm days!

Glad to have been a friend of Nicky in high school. One of the original 'gustos' and remembered fondly for the bear hugs and blazing smile. So fitting that this gentle man, and remarkable athlete back in the day, spent his life helping others.
