NORMAN DRESNER Obituary

NORMAN A. DRESNER
Norman Abbott Dresner died at his home in Severn, Maryland on November 1, 2018. He was 77. Born in Manhattan, NY, in 1941, Norman was the son of Mac and Blanche Dresner and the brother of the late Alice Schlossberg of Beverly, Massachusetts. He lived most of his early life in the Bronx and the last 50 years in Maryland. In 1962, Norman received the first of many academic degrees, a bachelor's degree in math from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and met his future wife Marcia. He had a lifelong devotion to learning and study, particularly in the fields of mathematics and quantum physics. His long career was spent primarily in defense work with Westinghouse/Northrop Grumman. The work included assignments in the Bahamas, Arizona, North Carolina, and Nagoya, Japan. Outside of work, he had passions for photography, electronics, computers, HO scale model trains and boats, puzzles and games, and woodturning. The woodturning hobby led to the founding of his artisan business, Wood Art for Living. Norm was the beloved husband of Marcia Dresner (née Newman) for over 53 years. He is survived by two sons: Jonathan Dresner and his wife Woody of Pittsburg, Kansas; Michael (Alex) Dresner and his wife Kimberly of Springfield, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by his niece and nephew Sara and David Schlossberg and was a doting grandfather to his granddaughters: Shawn, Samantha, and Evelyne Dresner. Private services were held on Sunday, November 4 at his home in Severn. Donations in his memory can be made to the American Civil Liberties Union.
