OLIVER WINSTON CROMWELL
Died on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, husband of Youtha C. Hardman-Cromwell; father of Michael Cromwell (Sandy), Darnell, Dwayne, and Debra Whitten; grandfather of Tiffany Whitten; and brother of Charles (Delores). He was retired from DC Government as Public Information Officer in Housing and Community Development Offices and as Assistant Management Officer, DC Government, after having served at the Joint Center for Political Studies and Congressional Quarterly and then in the Office of Refugee Resettle Office as Public Affairs Officer. A native-born Washingtonian, he attended Monroe Elementary, Banneker Junior High, Dunbar High Public Schools, and Howard University where he studied political science. He was previously married to Joyce Anne Dabit, the mother of Michael and Edna Frazier Cromwell, who served as Ward 1 representative on the DC Board of Education. He served many years as a member, trustee, and president of the Edna Frazier-Cromwell Scholarship Fund. He leaves behind relatives, many friends, and a legacy of laughter, a warm spirit, joy in living, a keen mind that engaged thoughtful conversation, and a concern for humanity. A memorial service will be held on Saturday. January 28 at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2911 Cameron Mills Road, Alexandria, VA 22302.
