OWEN FRANCIS THOMAS "Frank" January 29, 1919 - April 28, 2012
Frank passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2012. A long time resident of McLean, VA and a proud native of Brooklyn, NY, he is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Sophia, and six children, David, Philip, Francine, Stephen, Muriel and Owen, their spouses, 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Frank had a distinguished career as a World War II Naval Aviator, retiring as a Commander, and then as an inspector and manager with the Federal Aviation Administration. He was an accomplished violinist. Friends may call on Wednesday, May 2 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Falls Church Funeral Home, 1102 W. Broad St., Falls Church, VA. Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Thursday, May 3 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, 6420 Linway Terrace, McLean, VA. Interment to be held at Fairfax Memorial Park. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20006.
