Pat, Godspeed to you on your journey. Mary Ellen, my sincere condolences go out to you and the McDonough clan. I enjoyed the time with Pat over at my house discussing the finer side of collecting items from the history of the Corps. We traded many items together. I gave him a book last year on the EGA and I hope it helped provide him some comfort in his last days, we shared a kindred spirit with our collections and passion. I know his presence will be missed at the FC Little League and by all he touched. Semper Fi!

My late wife Mary Kay worked with Pat McDonough, and I also had the pleasure of getting to know him. A wonderful man, gone far too soon. My deepest sympathies to Mary Ellen and to the McDonough family.

Dearest Mary Ellen and family,
I am so very sorry for your loss of Patrick. He had a contagious Irish smile and was easily entertained by his loving wife and her zany friends. His gift of laughter and acceptance of our hilarious skits at your many St. Patricks Day, Halloween and Easter celebrations was one of his finest gifts. A man who truly loved life, laughter and family, as well as his strong faith in God. My loving and broken heart is with you.
With thoughts and prayers,

I met Pat in 1976 and we worked at the same law firm for about six months before he took off to Washington D.C. in search of a more meaningful and rewarding job. I was new to Lowell, and he welcomed me; we hit it off, and his circle of friends became my circle of friends. I took over his spot in the weekly tennis tournament with that group of friends. We stayed in touch over the years. I was one of the all-too-small group from Lowell to attend his wedding. We also had a Boston College connection. I always sent him a Christmas card with a newsletter, and he always called me a couple weeks later to say hello and fill me in on what the family and he had been doing. Pat was always comfortable to be with, even from miles away. I miss him. There is a hole in my heart. My best wishes to his family.

Some of my favorite memories from childhood are those spent with Patrick and the McDonough family at Hampton Beach. I will never forget the Les Miserables sing alongs, trips to the York Beach amusement park and meals at Yokens. Mary Ellen, Allison, Megan, and Brendan, my thoughts are with you, Patrick will be missed greatly.

Pat had a quiet strength, a generous spirit and a love of military history, Little League and most of all his family. These were the things you quickly learned about Pat and the things you could count on not to change. We will always miss him and thank you his family for sharing him with us. May God keep you in His care and bring you peace.

I worked with Pat for a few years in the Washington National Office for the Joint Board. He was a very kind, patient and smart person. His love for historical military items was unmatched. He sparked the interest of many who would have never given it a second thought. He encouraged others around him to always learn something new everyday. My fondest memory of him was his punctuality. Pat would never be late for Anything and that is something we would always smile about!! He will be truly missed

My mom, Mary Kay Sullivan, worked with Mr. McDonough and had wonderful, warm, happy stories about their time together and the joy and humor he brought to all situations. What an exceptionally wonderful husband and father, with an amazing family. Mary Ellen, Allison, Megan, and Brendan, I am so sorry for your loss.

I first knew Patrick through our employer, the U. S. Treasury. The professional relationship evolved into a deep personal friendship for my husband and myself. His unselfish caring and dedication to ethical and professional matters was without equal. But, his love and dedication to his family rose above all.

Pat was an exceptional public servant, both in the Marines, in which he was so proud to have been a part, and in the civil service he served so well for many years. He met with me and others at the American Academy of Actuaries throughout his years as ED of the JBEA, and he was unfailingly intelligent and helpful and perceptive about every matter we ever discussed. He understood the meaning of, and the contributions public service makes to the American public. He will be greatly missed in his professional life, as I'm sure he will be in his personal life. Please know that the Academy members, and I personally, offer our most sincere sympathy to his wonderful family, and his many colleagues, about whom he often spoke.

I've known and worked with Pat for many years, he as the Executive Director of the Joint Board and I as the chair of the Advisory Committee. We also spent many hours talking about his love for historical military items and even more his love for Little League. He will be sorely missed.

I worked with Pat a bit on a committee of pension actuaries that advise the Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries (of which he was Executive Director). He was a wonderfully interesting, kind and funny man. Our meetings are not the same without him and we miss him.

Pat was loved by all. As a fellow Marine, he always brought dignity and class to our otherwise uncivilized group. We will miss him. Semper Fi, Pat
