Paul Durand Obituary

Paul Durand, a devoted husband, brother, and friend, passed away on February 24, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on March 8, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, he was the beloved son of Barney and Marian Cohen. He is survived by his loving wife, Anne Durand, and his brother, Robert Cohen.
On September 23, 1989, Paul married the love of his life, Anne Durand, and together they shared 35 wonderful years of marriage.
Paul had a lifelong passion for learning, earning a Bachelor of Science from Roosevelt University, a Master of Science in Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, and an MBA from Loyola University. He dedicated 30 years of service as a commissioned officer in the United States Public Health Service. During his career, he worked as an environmental engineer for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and later as a hazardous waste environmental engineer at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Following his retirement, he became a certified coach and ran a small coaching practice.
Faith was central to Paul's life. He was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus.
Paul's interests were as diverse as they were deep. He found joy in playing the piano, painting in watercolor and oils, pottery, photography, and exploring technology. He and Anne shared a love of travel, adventuring to breathtaking destinations around the world, with Antarctica and the North Pole holding a special place in his heart.
Paul will be remembered for his intellect, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his faith, family, and friends.
A funeral service will be held on March 4, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus at Our Lady of Lourdes in Paul's memory.
