PETER R. GODBOUT

PETER ROBERT GODBOUT  
A longtime College Park and Baltimore business owner, died February 28, 2014 in his Baltimore home. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Patricia Godbout, his son Chad Anthony Godbout, of New York, his daughters Brittani Leigh Godbout, M. Denise Bautz, Jodi Marie Naasz, her husband Bo and a granddaughter Zoe Elizabeth. He is also survived by his twin brother, Paul and four other brothers and a sister, James, Frederick, Stephen, Thomas and Ann. Siblings Gerald, Betty and Richard, died before Mr. Godbout. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends who loved him. Born in Washington, D.C. in 1951, Pete grew up in Silver Spring. He graduated from Archbishop John Carroll High School in 1969 and attended the University of Maryland before going into business with his twin brother. He was the president of World Wide Delivery in College Park, from 1971 to 2001. Since 2001, Mr. Godbout had owned and operated Dad's Delivery in Baltimore Pete took great pride in being a family man and loved unconditionally. He dedicated his life to being a caring father, husband, brother, friend, uncle, and grandfather, and stepped in as a surrogate father to many relatives as well. He was simply "Uncle Pete" to most, whether they were related or not, and took the time to know everyone who called him that name. Uncle Pete never met a stranger.  An avid sportsman, he most loved spending days at Laurel Racetrack, Pimilico or the Sports Book (most likely at the Imperial Palace) in Las Vegas. He described a perfect day as spending time with his family and "playing the ponies" with his brother and best friend. He was known as Coach to others, he volunteered on teams for younger siblings, his children and other youth in varying sports through the years, including, soccer and softball in Howard County. He was selfless and served as chairman of the Cystic Fibrosis Walk in Anne Arundel County from 1985 to 1990 after finding out an employee's children had the disease. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.  Pete was blessed with the kindest heart, an awesome sense of humor, a fun loving spirit and a positive attitude, attributes which live on in anyone who knew him as Dad, Pop or Uncle Pete.  Arrangements for Pete Godbout's Viewing, Mass & Reception will be Tuesday March at St. Bernadette's Church, 70 University Blvd East Silver Spring, MD 20901. The viewing will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with Mass to follow and internment will be Gates of Heaven Cemetery.
