Peter Lee Obituary
REV. PETER JAMES LEE
The Rt. Rev. Peter James Lee, whose inclusive ministry of 25 years as the XII bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia advocated worldwide for compassion and social justice, died peacefully on July 2, 2022, in Chapel Hill, NC. He was 84.
He will be remembered for his generosity of spirit, his contributions to the Church and those he served, his wit, his wisdom, his passion for justice and, as remembered by the Episcopal bishop of North Carolina, the Rt. Rev. Samuel Rodman, his ability to "balance the challenges of visionary leadership with personal attention and pastoral grace."
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kristina Knapp Lee; daughter, Stewart Lee (Joel Sherry) and their children Gabriel and Julian; son, James Lee, (Michelle Lee), and their children Sterling, Hollis and Ruby; a brother, Bruce Lee (Irene Lee) and nieces Tina Lee and Rebecca Knapp, and nephew Rich Holton.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. July 15 at Chapel of the Cross, 303 E. Franklin St., Chapel Hill, NC. The service will be live streamed at www.thechapelofthecross.org

We lived in Chapel Hill on 70s. We lost our infant son to SIDS. Don't know what we would have done without him. Big positive part of our lives. Always remembered him. He was wonderful.
