I was saddened to here of the passing of Philip Broome. I did not get to the third district (aka old number 13), until 1970. I was just a kid of 20 and Broome took us rookies under his wing and guided us along with his wisdom. He always had a great sense of humor, but got tough with us rookies when we needed it. He always took time to help me when I was young and didn't know much. Philip Broome was a great guy. I wish I had known of the services sooner. I really would've liked to been there. He taught me a great deal and we had some good laughs together. He taught me many things including some survival skills, and that was a large part of why I was able make it in one piece and retire in 1992. I am truly sorry for your loss. May the Lord bless and keep his entire family and loved ones safe in the years to come.

I would like to express my sympathy to the family of Philip Broome. I feel saddened by his passing but at the same time thankful that I was able to talk with and enjoy his warmth and kindness at the 2007
13th precinct reunion. I hadn't seen or talked to him in almost 40 years. A grest guy who will be long remembered for being the police officer that he was.
My name is Dale E. Wallace. I was assigned to the 13th precinct in 1961. It didn't take me long to realize that Officer Broome was a hands on mentor for the rookies who were just starting with the department.
Our friendship and working relationship lasted for over a decade.
I know, because of where he is at now he will be in the front row and be attentive to his final Roll Call.
Again my sympathy to those who were close and dear to him.
God Bless
Dale E. Wallace
